R. Timothy Stack has served as president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare since December 2001. He has a history of leading healthcare systems, having previously served as president and CEO of Borgess Health Alliance and as president and CEO of Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Prior to joining Borgess, Stack was president and CEO of South Side Healthcare System in Pittsburgh, Pa. He also served as senior vice president and COO at Central Medical Center and Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Under Stack's leadership, Piedmont Hospital has received numerous awards and recognition for excellence. Most recently, Piedmont Hospital was named "Best in Atlanta for Overall Cardiac Care and Cardiac Surgery" in 2008 and 2009 by HealthGrades, a leading health care ratings company. Piedmont Hospital has also been named one of the nation's Most Wired hospitals for five consecutive years in the 100 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study. Additionally, Piedmont Hospital was named one of Atlanta's "Best Places to Work" in 2007 and 2005 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle's annual survey.

Since beginning his career in the health care industry, Stack has been involved in many professional service organizations. He is currently chairman of the Georgia Hospital Association board, serves on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce board, and has been a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1990.

Community service is also important to Stack, who served as Healthcare Chairman for the Metro Atlanta United Way Campaign Cabinet in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, and during 2006-07 he served as chairman of START!/Atlanta Heart Walk, an American Heart Association corporate walking fitness program.

Stack earned a bachelor's degree from Bethany College and a master's in hospital administration from the Medical College of Virginia. He and his wife, Mary, live in Atlanta and have three sons.
