Kimberly Grantham received her Ph.D. in marketing from Duke University in 2001. While at Duke University, she and her co-authors were awarded a CIBER grant to study in South Africa, and she was also selected as a recipient of a National Black MBA scholarship. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Dr. Grantham worked in the telecommunications industry for Bell Atlantic Corporation in their Executive Development Program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce, with dual concentrations in marketing and management.
Dr. Grantham's research focuses on consumers' use of word-of-mouth information, and the influence of the other-race-effect on customer service interactions. Her research has been presented at, and appears in the proceedings of numerous conferences sponsored by the American Marketing Association, Association for Consumer Research, Frontiers in Services, Academy of International Business, the Society for Consumer Psychology, the Society for Marketing Advances, and the American Psychological Association. Grantham's teaching philosophy centers on two core principles. First, she believes that success in teaching requires enthusiasm for both learning and instruction. Second, she believes that students gain from cooperative learning experiences in which collaboration is a fundamental part of the learning process. Dr. Grantham's teaching interests include Principles of Marketing and Advertising/Sales Promotion.
