Graduate Certificate in Gerontology
The Certificate courses help students prepare to tackle the challenges of our aging population, whatever the student’s interest may be.
The Institute of Gerontology is the hub for coordinating and conducting The University of Georgia's education, research, and outreach services associated with the study of aging and older adults. Through its 30-plus member university-wide Faculty of Gerontology, the Institute collaborates with educators and researchers within Georgia, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
We invite students and faculty ---including new students and alumni --- to participate in the 22nd Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference in Gerontology and Geriatrics in Atlanta, GA on March 30-31, 2012. For over two decades, this conference has sought to provide students with practical expereinces associated with academic and applied gerontology. The conference program typically includes faculty and student keynote addresses as well as special panels, but the heart of the conference is student poster presentations and discussion sessions, which represent a key learning experience for participating students. We are currently accepting 2012 abstract submissions and conference registration. Please visit this page for more conference details.

Gerontology is the study of aging and older adults. Long life is a direct result of public health. The science of gerontology has evolved as longevity has improved. Researchers in this field are diverse. Our students are trained in basic science, social science and statistics. Our graduates work in public and private sector jobs. With these tools, we create the solutions needed by our society.
