Computer Systems Administration (3357)Associate of Applied Science
What is it?
The Computer Systems Administration Certificate option is designed to prepare students to become support specialists in both a hardware/software and network environment. Areas of emphasis will be on server configuration, maintaining the server operating system, file structure and directory services as well as network concepts such as Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) support.
Upon completion of the appropriate courses, the student may elect to take the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) exams* leading to the Server Administrator certification.. Other professional certifications attainable upon completion of the appropriate courses would include A+, Network+ and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS). While every effort is made to assist the student in preparing for these exams, no guarantee is made that he/she will successfully pass the exams.
Applicants having passed any of the MCTS exams prior to taking the equivalent course can be exempted from that course. Any exams submitted for exemption must reflect the current technology version taught in the corresponding course and approved by the program director.
The courses in the program are subject to change in order to be responsive to the changing Information Technology demands of the workforce.
This degree program is part of a credit transfer agreement with Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW). Upon completion of the program most credits earned transfer directly into the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program at GSW.
