Integrative Studies

University College and the Department of Leadership and Integrative Studies now offers an Integrative Studies Degree Program. The Integrative Studies Program (INTS) is a unique combination of courses from various academic areas. Students work with an INTS advisor to customize a plan to achieve their educational and career goals while working towards a Bachelor of Science Degree.

  • Integrative Studies Courses for Fall 2017 [ PDF]

  • The Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Studies allows students the flexibility to individually design a curriculum that will guide them to accomplish their personal and career goals. There are three available tracks: Specialized Studies, Environmental Studies, and General Studies.

    Specialized Studies Track (2.5 AGPA required for admission):

    General Education and Fitness for Living Requirements (45-48 Credit Hours)

    *Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18 Credit Hours): Varies depending on academic areas selected.

    *Upper Division Major Requirements (39 Credit Hours)

    • 12 credit hours each from two chosen academic areas.
    • 12 credit hours of upper-level course work approved by the INTS Director reflecting integration and application of upper-level academic skills. And 3 credit hours for INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies.

    Related Studies (9 Credit Hours)

    • Varies depending on academic areas.

    Free Electives (12 Credit Hours)

    • Any courses in the university curriculum.

    Program Total: 123 Credit Hours

    Environmental Studies Track (2.5 AGPA required for admission):

    General Education and Fitness for Living Requirements (45-48 Credit Hours)

    Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18-20 Credit Hours)

    • Varies depending on academic areas.

    Upper Division Major Requirements (53-54 Credit Hours)

    • 12 credit hours each from three academic areas.
    • 12 credit hours of coursework approved by the INTS Director reflecting integration and application of upper-level academic skills. And 3 credit hours for INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies.

    Related Studies (0-6 Credit Hours)

    • Varies: Environmental Policy=0; Environmental Science=6.

    Free Electives (0-9 Credit Hours)

    • Any courses in the university curriculum. Varies: Environmental Science=0; Environmental Policy=9.

    Program Total: 124-126 Credit Hours

    General Studies Track (2.0 AGPA required for admission):

    General Education and Fitness for Living Requirements (45-48 Credit Hours)

    Lower Division Major Requirements (Area F) (18 Credit Hours)

    • Varies depending on interest areas but must include IT 2101: Computers in Your World and COM 2129: Public Speaking (COM 1109: Human Communication can be substituted if it was not taken to fulfill their general education requirements).

    Upper Division Major Requirements (39 Credit Hours)

    • Varies depending on interest areas but must include LDRS 3000: Foundations of Leadership and WRIT 3140: Technical Writing, INTS 4498: Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies and 12 hours in one or a cluster of two academic areas.

    Free Electives (21 Credit Hours)

    • Any courses in the university curriculum

    Program Total: 123 Credit Hours

  • This fully online program is well suited to adult learners seeking an undergraduate degree to enhance career opportunities. The program provides learners with a single point of contact for the duration of their degree program. Adult learning and success resources are also available and include an online orientation, peer mentoring, virtual advising, online tutoring, and an adult learner resources center.

  • michael D. Michael Keleher came to Kennesaw State University in 2002. The recipient of the 2013 University College Distinguished Professional Service Award, Dr. Keleher teaches honors English courses and the Senior Seminar in Integrative Studies.
