UNIV 1120, a one-hour course in computer literacy and documentary filmmaking, helps students make a research-based documentary on a subject of their choice and then publish it on the internet.
With the advent of affordable HD cameras and internet distribution, there's never been a more exciting time to be a filmmaker. During class we will discuss research strategies and copyright law, watch selected documentaries, and learn various software: FinalCut Pro, GarageBand, iMovie, Windows MovieMaker, Photoshop, and more. This one-credit-hour course meets for 50 minutes once per week and is graded pass/fail.

The traditional three-C literacies--computational literacy, comprehension literacy, and written composition literacy--are no longer sufficient for success in college and in the work place. The fourth C, computer literacy, has become an essential processing tool through which the other three literacies are increasingly learned, enhanced, and enacted.
