Campus Overview & University Resources

Terry MBAs enjoy all the benefits of being part of The University of Georgia. World-class classroom, library, and physical activities facilities, a performing arts center, museum, botanical gardens, and nationally ranked sports teams provide year-round opportunities for work and play.

The Miller Learning Center is the favorite study and group meeting space of MBAs. Its 258,000 square feet includes classrooms, group study rooms, wireless workstations, a reading room, as well as quiet study space, project and presentation rooms, learning labs, event space, and a coffee and snack bar.

Tate Student Center

UGA's Tate Center has a brand new addition, with new dining options including Barberitos, Hotei's - An Asian Eatery and Taste of Home Cafe, with plenty of space to relax! The existing building includes new studios for WUOG 90.5 FM (the student-run radio station), dance rehearsal rooms for student organizations, a movie theatre, game room, and cafe. Clubs can rent space in Tate for meetings or sponsored events.

Outdoor Activities

The Oconee Forest, part of UGA's Recreational Sports Complex, extends along the west side of campus. The park offers playing fields, tennis courts, hiking trails, and running courses, as well as a ropes course and softball fields. Lake Herrick is the centerpiece of the park and is bordered by a pavilion and white-sand beach where students barbecue, canoe, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Ramsey Center

Many MBAs take advantage of the Ramsey Student Physical Activity Center, a 430,000 sq ft facility that houses 3 swimming pools, 3 multi-purpose rooms, 5 gymnasia, a climbing wall, 10 racquetball courts, and a 1/8 mile track. The 10,000 sq.ft. strength and conditioning room provides over 200 workout stations, including strength-training and cardio-vascular machines. A variety of classes such as step aerobics, kickboxing, indoor cycling, martial arts, and dance are also offered.

Activities / Intramural Sports

In addition to excellence in academics, the University offers students interested in sports a variety of activities in which to participate. The University has an 18-hole championship golf course available to students at a reduced fee. The intramural sports program includes football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, golf, dodge ball, floor hockey, badminton, swimming, squash, and tennis. UGA’s Ramsey Center also houses The Georgia Outdoor Recreation Program, which offers activities such as backpacking, caving, horseback riding, cycling, and snow skiing.

Student Health Services

University Health Center
University Health Center

The University Health Center, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals, offers inpatient and outpatient care to registered students who have paid the student health fee. Health insurance is available to students and their dependents through the Health Center office.

The Mental Health and Physical Health Divisions of the University Health Center enable the University to meet the varied needs of college students. The Health Center also provides a preventive and emergency dental clinic which operates on a subscription basis. The Health Center is open 24 hours daily during regular academic sessions of the University, with a fee-for-service schedule in effect during breaks.

Transportation

The campus bus system provides free campus bus service and chartered bus service for students, faculty, and staff. The service is funded by a transportation fee paid by all students and by funds received from traffic fines.

Athens Transit is a department of the Athens-Clarke County government. The government and the University of Georgia have an arrangement that allows University students to ride any of the regularly scheduled ATS buses free of charge upon presentation of a UGA ID card. Athens Transit buses run through campus and stop at all campus bus stops.

Performing Arts Center

The UGA Performing Arts Center houses two concert halls, Hodgson Concert Hall and Ramsey Concert Hall. With festival-style seating for 1,100 persons, the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall is a popular venue for artists from around the world.

The University Libraries

The University of Georgia has three principal libraries on the Athens campus. Collectively, the libraries own 4.1 million volumes and 6.5 million microform units, and subscribe to 7,000 print journals. They provide online access to 18,618 electronic full-text journals, and approximately 400,000 full-text e-books.

The UGA Library also has specific librarian hours to assist Terry students with research.

University Athletics

Tickets to UGA sporting events are awarded through a lottery system run by the Athletic Association.
