The goal of the division is to help position the university as one of the top-tier public research universities in the country, and Georgia's flagship institution of higher education. The Division of Development and Alumni Relations supports the University of Georgia through several functions that generate both financial and non-financial support.
Maintaining contact with the alumni of the University of Georgia—now more than 200,000 strong—is the mission of Alumni Relations. Through its programs, tours, and campus events, the Alumni Relations office keeps the connection between alumni and their alma mater strong.
Through private gifts, UGA promotes and supports scholarships, endowed professorships, graduate fellowships, international study for students and faculty, research facilities and the campus master plan. Direct public support accounts for less than 40 percent of the annual operating budget. Therefore, through the Development Office, private gifts and pledges from individuals, foundations and corporations help to ensure the university's excellence in the academy.
The Office of Financial Services manages the budget, personnel, computing and accounting functions for the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. In addition, the Office of Financial Services provides staff support for the University of Georgia Foundation. Support includes both financial and technical expertise to enhance the fund-raising, alumni relations and public relations efforts of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations and the overall university.
The University of Georgia Career Center is a comprehensive career planning and employment center. It provides a complete range of services to students, alumni, and employers in the areas of career development, graduate and professional school preparation, experiential education, employer relations and campus recruiting.
The Office of Special Events designs, develops and manages special events that showcase the University of Georgia's excellence and promote advocacy and support for the institution.
