The Writing Lab provides support for students in Learning Support English, English composition, Regents' Test review courses, and other programs as requested. The highly skilled staff consists of a director, four assistant directors, and several student workers.

Support is provided in a number of ways. Students can receive one-on-one tutoring from any staff member. To add to the personal approach, different technologies are available. Students Writing
have the choice of working on a computer with different software packages, or they can watch an instructional video or use the Internet resources. Students also have the opportunity to review sample final exams and to practice for the Exit Exam (COMPASS) when the nerve-wrenching end of the semester comes around.

The Writing Lab also works closely with the English faculty. The lab provides periodic reports on students' progress, offers instruction in the use of computers, orders materials for both lab and classroom use, and provides instructors with an opportunity to preview software and other materials for purchase.
