The Darton College Reading Lab, a multimedia facility equipped with computers and standard reading materials, supports faculty and assists Darton students with reading needs or with interests in reading improvement techniques. Students receive help with skill deficiencies, enhance existing skills, and strengthen content area reading, study skills, test taking, and speed-reading.
A primary duty of the Reading Lab is to prepare students for success in college level reading. For students whose entrance tests show a need to improve reading proficiency, the lab staff and reading instructors coordinate their teaching efforts to bridge the gap between students' actual reading level and college level performance. The Lab provides instructional support for reading students preparing for the COMPASS Reading Test.
For students preparing to take the COMPASS Reading Test, the Reading Lab provides diagnostic and practice tests which are comparable to the actual COMPASS Reading Test. Practice tests and particular skill exercises have profited many students.
In conclusion, all Darton College students have the opportunity to use the Reading Lab facilities. The lab personnel, composed of one full-time professional and two part-time professionals, are available and eager to assist students with any reading request.
