Learning Communities

Darton College’s first year learning communities consist of a cluster of three courses linked by a common theme. Twenty-four entering first year students may participate in each learning community. The cluster includes two academic core courses and the FYE course. These are not team taught; rather, the professors collaborate to develop a theme that can be developed through two disciplines.

Research indicates that students in learning communities have higher grade point averages and a higher propensity to remain in school than their counterparts who do not participate in a community.
