Marriage and Family Therapy
The Department of Counseling. Ed. Leadership & Professional Studies offers coursework in marriage and family counseling each semester. These courses are designed to provide students with the necessary skills to begin the pursuit toward licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Georgia.
In addition, CSU's Department of Counseling and Educational Leadership and the United States Army Chaplain Corps work together to provide training for Army Chaplains in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Marriage and Family Therapy Certification Program
The MFT certification program is designed to prepare the student, through additional course work in MFT, to complete the academic requirements for state licensure. This additional course work entails five courses in MFT, two in theory, two in practice and one in ethics. Also, the additional practicum/internship experience can be taken at Columbus State University. A description of the state requirements and years of experience needed for the MFT state examination is available. Please contact Dr. Michael Baltimore at (706) 568-2301 for a more complete description of the program.
