Darton College is proud to announce former Purdue University stand out Chris Fleeger as its Head Wrestling Coach. Fleeger joins the Darton Athletic Department after serving as an Assistant Coach for Purdue University since 2007. Fleeger coached Purdue's last two All-Americans at lightweights. He also coached 7 Academic All-Americans while at Purdue.
Fleeger had a stellar collegiate career at Purdue as a wrestler. He was a three-time NCAA All-American earning a 3rd place at 125lbs in 2002, 2nd place at 125lbs in 2003, and finally a 2nd place at 133lbs in 2006. He was also the Big Ten Conference champion and Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament in 2003. He finished his career at Purdue with an impressive 86-9 record. While in high school at Loyalsock High School in Pennsylvania, he was able to win two state championships and finished his high school career at 134-5. He was a four-time USA Cadet national champion, twice in freestyle and twice in Greco-Roman, the 1998 Cadet National Outstanding Wrestler and a 1998 USA Junior world team member and national champion.
In international competition Fleeger was able to represent the United States at the Pan American Championships in 2001 and brought home a bronze medal. He also competed for the US in the University World Championships in 2002 bringing home another bronze medal. He was able to win the prestigious Sunkist Open in 2006 once again earning the outstanding wrestler award.
