Bill Jones takes on the duties of head coach beginning fall 2011, and brings with him a well-experienced, knowledgeable golf background.
Coach Jones is a Darton graduate, and had a stellar representation of the college as a student-athlete. In 2007 he became the NJCAA DII national champion and was considered the top DII player in the NJCAA as he received the Arnold Palmer Award. That year Coach Jones lead the golf team to a national championship finish.
Coach Jones continued his career as a student athlete at NCAA DI powerhouse Mercer University, where he would later graduate Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance and Management from Mercer's Eugene W. Stetson School for Business and Economics. Athletic highlights there include:
2009 Charles Morgan Senior Male Athlete of the Year
2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American team
2009 All-Atlantic Sun First Team (74-69-74 = 217, t-5th)
9 top-10 finishes including a Runner-Up at the 2009 Linger Longer Invitational, which included #1 and #2 ranked teams in the nation.
Coach Jones still competes as an amateur, and has had three Top 15 finishes at the Georgia State Amateur, including a 7th place finish at the 2011 State Amateur Championship. He was a medalist in the Atlanta qualifier for the 2010 United States Amateur Championship, shooting 69-66. Coach Jones finished 108th of 312 in the US Amateur Stroke Play.
Other work experience includes two seasons of serving the athletic department as an assistant golf coach under then-head-coach Dale Dover. Coach Jones is also acting as the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life.

Dale Dover

Dale Dover has taken on a new role as Director of Golf Operations for the Cavaliers Golf Team. Dover created one of the most successful collegiate golf programs in the country, leading Darton College golfers to three consecutive National Championships (2005, 2006, and 2007), runner-up finishes in 2008 and 2009, 8 straight Region XVII Championships, and a win in Darton’s inaugural trip to the NJCAA Division I District IV Championship.
Originally from Toccoa, Georgia, Coach Dover obtained a B.S. degree from Piedmont College and a secondary education certification from the University of Georgia. He has over 20 yeas of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels.
Additionally, he has been the president and owner of Dover Insurance Agency for over 30 years. Coach Dover is a member of numerous professional organizations including the NJCAA Golf Coaches Association, GCAA and the Camilla Rotary Club.
Coach Dover has won four National Golf Coach of the Year awards to go along with eight NJCAA Region XVII Coach of the Year awards and District IV Coach of the Year in 2011. He has also been recognized in 2007 and 2010 as Central Region Coach of the Year.
Dale has been married to Janine G. Dover for 46 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.
