Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Kennesaw State. The current Department came into this world on January 6, 2015. However, we are not entirely a tabula rasa. The Department has the degree programs and faculty from the institutions that form the new Kennesaw State University. It truly is the best of both worlds.

If you are thinking about earning a degree that will provide you with a wide array of possibilities for a career in mathematics-related fields, then you have come to the right place. We offer programs of undergraduate study leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Computational and Applied Mathematics, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. In cooperation with other departments, we offer advanced programs that lead to a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics or a Master of Science in Applied Statistics. In both of these accelerated programs you begin graduate studies in your senior year. For those without the time to pursue a second major in Mathematics, we offer minors Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. Our graduates have had excellent success in recent years in gaining employment and launching careers as business and industry analysts and as secondary school educators. Many recent graduates have gone on to pursue advanced graduate degrees in mathematics and statistics.

As a student in the Department of Mathematics, you will have many opportunities for involvement in activities with your professors and your peers. We have a weekly seminar called Math Talks which is aimed at a student audience and which features talks on a variety of interesting mathematical topics. Our Kennesaw Women in Mathematics (KWIM) student organization hosts events throughout the year that bring students and faculty together for fun learning experiences outside of the classroom. Many of our faculty members are engaged in research that presents opportunities for student-faculty research projects for those of our students who choose to extend their educational experience beyond the basic curriculum of study. Students often present their work at our annual Kennesaw Mountain Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (KMUMC). We offer the annual study abroad program, China Revealed Through Its Culture and Mathematics. The department prides itself as a center of scholarly culture at KSU and our students are a central part of this thriving culture.

We hope that you will take some time to browse through our website to learn more about our programs and to get a sense of the many exciting activities and events that are taking place in the department on a regular basis. If you are interested in pursuing a career in mathematics, have questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
