The Department of History

    The Department of History offers the Bachelor of Arts and  Master of Arts degrees in History, specializing in Southern History, History of Georgia, Women's History, and Military History, among other areas.  For undergraduates, the Department offers a unique Departmental Honors sequence
    as part of the University Honors Program, and for graduate students the Department has several graduate assistantship opportunities.

    Our faculty are engaging teachers, and nationally and internationally known as scholars in a variety of historical
    fields. You will be in the classroom with award-winning
    teachers and scholars, taking a range of classes that
    satisfy just about any historical interest.

    Sandra J.Peacock won the Ruffin Cup for 2110, which recognizes the highest achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

    Michelle Haberland won the CLASS Award of Distinction for Service.
