David Dews begins his 5th year as head coach of the Darton College softball program. In three years, Dews has compiled a record of 149-57 with three regular season championships and two state titles. The Cavaliers finished sixth at the World Series in 2009 and 5th last year. Since his arrival, Dews has helped 34 players move on and continue playing at the next level. Equally impressive has been the team GPA which has remained over a 3.0, a tribute to the hard work and dedication both on and off the field. Darton has always been a perennial powerhouse in the GJCAA conference and is rapidly becoming a national contender. Coach Dews brings to Darton a very successful background and years of experience. He is well known for his recruiting and offensive abilities. Many consider him to be one of the best young coaches in the game.

Prior to being named the head softball coach, Dews has coached at Wallace Community College-Dothan,AL and Lurleen B. Wallace in Andalusia, AL. At Dothan, Coach Dews was the head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. David helped Dothan win three straight state juco titles and four straight division titles while he was there. In addition to the state titles, they were consistently ranked nationally in the top ten every year. He was also a vital part of sending over 27 players to four year institutions, which included players in the SEC and ACC. At Lurleen B. Wallace, Dews built the softball program into a state contender in two years. He helped take them to back to back state tournaments and become a competitor in Alabama's tough Southern Division. He also was responsible for sending six players on to four year institutions. His track record for building first class programs and helping players move on to the next level make this an exciting time for Darton Softball.

Sam White enters his 5th season as assistant coach for the Darton Softball program. Coach White brings a winning tradition to a Darton program that has tasted success in recent years. He has helped take a well laid foundation and bolster the program into national prominence. In only his second season the Cavs won a conference and region title finishing 6th at the NJCAA World Series. Last year the team won a conference and region title while finishing 5th at the World Series. Coach White is primarily responsible for pitching and outfielders. He also works with the hitters as well.

His off the field duties include head recruiting coordinator/fundraising for softball operations. He also is responsible for all international recruiting for softball.

Coach White is a native of Alabama he comes to Darton after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Wallace Community College-Dothan. In his time there they compiled a record of 175-21 and won four straight Southern Division titles.
