Learn about the equipment and skills needed for at least one night in the backcountry without facilities.
Information includes how to stay dry and warm, hydrated and fed, and protected from the sun and bugs. Also information on where to get the best deals on clothing and equipment, how to get in shape for outdoor activities and how to gather resource information about destinations. We’ll also discuss the principles of Leave No Trace which asks outdoor enthusiasts to keep the environment clean and “untouched” for all of us to enjoy.
Bring a pen and paper for notes. Bring a snack or eat before you arrive. Handouts will be provided. Also, please feel free to bring any outdoor gear or clothing you would like the instructor to inspect or explain. The information base shared in this clinic will provide you with the skills and safety knowledge to participate in many GORP trips throughout the year.
