The 12th Annual Working in the Public Interest (WIPI) conference will shine a light on current social issues affecting the law and potential solutions. Key topics to be explored during the event’s three panels include issues surrounding vulnerable persons in custody, expanding access to justice through community lawyering, and healthcare access and disability rights. Global Georgia Initiative: Screening of “500 Years”

The Sundance-selected 2017 documentary 500 Years continues the story of the Guatemalan indigenous Mayan peoples’ human rights struggle that began in director Pamela Yates’s earlier films When the Mountains Tremble (1983) and Granito: How to Nail a Dictator (2011). Yates and Paco de Onís, producer of 500 Years and Granito, will take part in a discussion following the screening.
