National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology, Lambda Alpha (Logos Anthropou)

Lambda Alpha is not officially affiliated with the Anthropology Society, but it is an upstanding academic organization for which we encourage all anthropology majors to seek membership.

Zeta of Georgia

Purpose 
The purpose of this society shall be to encourage and stimulate scholarship and research in Anthropology by recognizing and honoring superior achievement in the discipline among students, faculty and other persons engaged in the study of Anthropology.

Membership Requirements 
To be considered for Lambda Alpha Honor Society lifetime membership, you must turn in the UGA application to the Anthropology Main Office in Baldwin 250 and a one-time lifetime membership fee of $25 (checks can be made out to Lambda Alpha). This fee includes a certificate and membership card.

Current UGA Undergraduate Students:

  • Must be currently enrolled and have completed, or be completing, at least 12 semester hours in academic Anthropology.
  • A minimum of 2.5 overall GPA and 3.0 Anthropology GPA is required.

Current UGA Graduate Students:

  • Graduate students must be in good standing at UGA.
  • A minimum of 3.25 cumulative GPA is required.

UGA Faculty Members:

  • Faculty members must be in good standing at UGA.
  • Faculty who are connected with the discipline of Anthropology are automatically eligible for membership.

UGA Alumni:

  • Alumni may apply for membership within five (5) years of graduation provided the same qualifications are met for undergraduate or graduate students, whichever apply.
  • A minimum of 3.25 cumulative GPA is required.

Lamda Alpha Journal 
Lambda Alpha Honor Society dedicates 50% of its space to student publications. All students will have the opportunity to submit their work in this yearly journal.

Annually Awarded National Scholarship

The National Executive Office provides sizable scholarships each year to two outstanding undergraduate members nationally.

Commencement.
Members are eligible to purchase the Lambda Alpha Honor stole ($25) and/or pin ($10) to wear at commencement.

To all of our anxiously awaiting members: we are still waiting for the national office to send us all of the certificates and membership cards! We will e-mail you as soon as we get those in and plan our first event!
