Select Major Professor
This form should be completed by the end of the Fall Semester graduate student drop-add period.
Appointment of Thesis Advisory Committee
The preliminary program of study should be completed by the end of the Fall Semester graduate student drop-add period.
Program of Study
The Advisory Committee consists of the Major Professor and two other faculty members. The Major Professor and one other committee member must be members of the Graduate Faculty. The committee should be selected by September 15.
Thesis Proposal
This should be approved by the Advisory Committee by December 1.
Application for Graduation
An application for graduation must be filed with the Graduate School no later than Friday of the second full week (the first full week for summer) of the semester of the anticipated graduation date. This form must be filed directly with the Graduate School.
Thesis Approval and Defense
The thesis should be approved by the Advisory Committee by the end of the Summer Short Session I. The form must be sent to the Graduate School by the posted final date for completing all requirements for advanced degrees.
Submitting the Thesis
- One complete formatted copy of the thesis must be submitted to the Graduate School for a format check at least four weeks prior to graduation.
- The Graduate School must receive the final defense approval form and an electronic submission of the final thesis no later than two weeks prior to graduation
Printing and Binding of Thesis
- The Department of Anthropology requires an official hard-bound copy of the dissertation for display in the Graduate Program Office. Verification (copy of order receipt) must be made prior to submission of the dissertation approval form to the Graduate School. Please contact the Anthropology Graduate Program Office with questions.
- Personal copies can be obtained through the Tate Student Center's Print and Copy Services. A request form can be found on their website.
