What is "Parents Supporting Parents"?
Ashley Rentz, the Parent Liaison Coordinator at IHDD, facilitates a support, information and referral group, Parents Supporting Parents, sponsored by the IHDD. The support group meets the last Thursday of each month from 10:00-11:30 a.m. during the school year at Chick-fil-A on Barnett Shoals Rd. She also provides information on trainings, area events, respite care, family support and much more, via e-mail to over 110 families. Please send your e-mail address to her to be included. Ashley joined the IHDD team in September 2008 with an extensive background in supporting families of children with special health care needs. She has provided training, information, referral and one-on-one support to families and self advocates. She has served on boards, committees and councils representing the interests of families of children with special needs in Georgia, Florida and Arkansas.
In addition, Ashley was instrumental in organizing the Clarke / Oconee / Oglethorpe Navigator Team, a project of Parent to Parent, to assist families in the Northeast Georgia region.
