Program Goals

Improving nutrition and exercise habits to decrease risk of chronic disease. Adults in Georgia will become aware of their risk factors for heart disease and change their eating and exercise habits to decrease those risks.
- Objective 1. Program participants will improve nutrition behavior to decrease the risk of chronic disease.
- Objective 2. Program participants will get regular exercise.
Controlling morbidity and mortality associated with diabetes. Georgians with diabetes who attend Extension-sponsored education programs will use food products and recipes lower in fat, sugar and/or sodium in order to improve their blood glucose and blood pressure levels.
- Objective 1. At least 50 percent of individuals with diabetes who attend Extension-sponsored diabetes nutrition programs will report that they use food products that are low in fat, sugar and/or sodium.
- Objective 2. At least 50 percent of individuals with diabetes who attend nutrition classes and diabetes cooking schools will report that they use recipes that are lower in fat, sugar and/or sodium.
