Family Circle
In HDFS, we study human development across the lifespan, from infancy to old age, using an interdisciplinary perspective. Our faculty is made up of family scientists, marriage and family therapists, developmental psychologists, sociologists and gerontologists. We focus on the ways in which individuals are influenced by family and family processes as well as how individuals and families are influenced by their social context such as socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, community characteristics and other factors. Our graduate students work with faculty who approach these issues in various ways including basic research, prevention and intervention, outreach and extension, and development of social policy. By choosing to study HDFS at UGA, you will have the opportunity to apprentice with highly regarded scholars who engage in cutting edge research.
