Research: My research takes place both in the US and abroad. I focus primarily on elders within the family context. Current research includes grandparent/grandchild relations, family caregiving, and cross-cultural issues in aging.
Teaching: Students in my gerontology classes learn about aging and they learn how to apply their knowledge to real life situations through engaging in service-learning or oral history projects.

Research: My research focuses on the predictors and consequences of various parenting behaviors. Specifically, I am interested in the ways in which parenting is associated with adolescent delinquency, risky sexual behavior, and dating violence.
