Enriching the Campus and Building the New Learning Environment

Explosive growth in funded research and public service/outreach programs, high demand for undergraduate and graduate programs, and the desire to work at the leading edge in meeting the need for family and consumer sciences expertise are compelling reasons for putting new and renovated space as the top priority for the College. We envision a physical structure that engages students and faculty as a community of learners, as well as reaches out to the publics we serve. Classrooms with state-of-the-art technology; marriage and family therapy, nutrition, and financial counseling clinics; laboratories with glass walls to facilitate students and visitors’ observing the process of discovery; and a climate-controlled environment with conservation and exhibit space for the Historic Costume Collection are included in the design plan.

Unrestricted funds allow us to be optimistic, to weather economic storms, and to invigorate programs across the missions of teaching, research and service.
