Transfer Evaluation Practices

We encourage students to seek academic advisement as soon as possible after receipt of their transfer evaluation. Academic advisors will utilize DegreeWorks to map a plan of progress toward the most efficient path of degree completion.

KSU considers transfer credit for courses taken at the Associate or Baccalaureate level from schools which are deemed by KSU to be properly accredited. We do not accept courses which directly apply to an Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Applied Arts, Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Applied Arts, Certificates, or any occupational degrees. Courses which received a grade of “W”, “WF”, “F”,”U” or an equivalent are not awarded.

KSU requires a 2.0 transfer GPA. This GPA is made up only of courses that transfer to KSU. Grades of “D” will be accepted only if they do not cause the transfer GPA to fall below a 2.0. English Composition courses will require a grade of “C” or higher in order to transfer. Additionally, courses that transfer with a grade of “D” may not be used in the degree if a requirement specifies a “C” or higher. Transfer courses do not affect the KSU GPA or AGPA.

KSU is on the semester system. Students who are transferring with courses taken under the quarter system will be granted equivalent semester hours. 1 semester hour = 1.5 quarter hours.

Transfer credit is not awarded for the following: internships, directed studies, practicums, workshops, orientation classes, seminars, work experience, graduate-level courses, lower-level Nursing courses, or remedial courses.
