Credit by Exam

Recognizing the wealth of knowledge students bring to their college experience, KSU affords students many opportunities to earn and apply credit toward a degree. These opportunities include Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST), Foreign Language Achievement Testing Service (FLATS), and Departmental Challenge Exams for Advanced Standing (Credit by Exam).

Policies regarding exam options for credit are published in the KSU Undergraduate Catalog.

  • KSU awards credit for the Advanced Placement Program (AP) tests administered by the College Entrance Examination Board. Students should contact CollegeBoard.org to request electronic submission of official AP scores to KSU or call 1-888-225-5427. Credit is not awarded based upon high school or college transcripts.

For Course Equivalents for Advanced Placement test scores, please see the KSU Transfer Services website.

Refer to the table below for Course Equivalents for your Advanced Placement test scores. For AP scores, please call 1-888-225-5427 or visit www.collegeboard.com.

Earn credit for knowledge acquired through independent study, prior coursework, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships. See the KSU Testing Services website for a list of CLEP exams that KSU administers and accepts.

  • Earn credit by examination through the Foreign Language Achievement Testing Service (FLATS). See the KSU Testing Services website for information about FLATS exams.
