As a part of the expanding scope of services and programs offered by LGBTQ Student Programs, we are proud to offer a variety of intentional community groups targeted towards specific populations with LGBTQ communities. These groups are led by Student Coordinators who work within the office of LGBTQ Student Programs in conjunction with a student leader from the community associated with the group.
Students are encouraged to participate in as many community groups as they would like, provided they share an aspect of identity the community group focuses on.
Our community groups are not registered student organizations, but rather a service and space created by LGBTQ Student Programs and facilitated by students.
Current Community Groups:
TRANScend is a support group where transgender and gender non-conforming students in all stages of transition can come together to talk about issues they may be facing or that are facing the transgender and gender non-conforming communities, to find help understanding if transition is right for them, and to have a sense community.
Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPoC) is for Students of Color that identify as LGBTQ to come together and create community surrounding the intersections of their identity.
Aces & Aros Community Group
The Aces & Aros Community Group is for students who identify along the asexual spectrum to come together and create community surrounding the intersections of their identity.
B+ Community Group
B+ is LGBTQ Student Programs' non-monosexual community group for students who identify as being attracted to more than one gender. B+ offers opportunities to share personal experiences as a non-monosexual, discuss the challenges and pride that comes with being non-monosexual, and find like-minded friends/bad puns, all in one group.
