MLK Week

At KSU, we recognize the educational access and opportunities that Dr. King's legacy has provided in the United States.  We invite you to celebrate the life and philosophies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by attending the various MLK Week events scheduled Saturday, January 14th - Thursday, January 19th.  For more information about any of the upcoming events, please contact Brandon Jackson at bjacks27@kennesaw.edu or  470-578-4518.

MLK Day of Service

MLK Day of Impact: Community Service Opportunity           RSVP Required     

Saturday, Jan. 14th       8:00am – 1:00pm                 Belmont Elementary School 
KSU Volunteerism (VKSU) will be taking student volunteers to the Hands On Atlanta Discovery Program to engage with small groups of K-5th grade children at Belmont Hill Elementary school. The Annual KSU MLK Ceremony & Keynote Address

Sunday, Jan. 15th    6:00pm – 8:30pm    Kennesaw Campus, Bailey Performance Center
Community activist and Hip-Hop performing artist David Banner will keynote this annual MLK ceremony. This keynote is meant to continue Dr. King’s legacy and deliver a message on how to inspire our community.  This event is co-sponsored by the KSU African-American Student Alliance.  Doors will open 5:00pm. Open admission seating.

Six Voices: "Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."              RSVP Required

Tuesday, Jan. 17th        12:00pm – 1:30pm    Carmichael Student Center University Room
Six KSU community members, including President Sam Olens, will have 10 minutes each to reflect on a quote, speech or action from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and share how his philosophies continue to impact our society today. Light refreshments will be served. Limited seating available. RSVP using the form below!

This film tells the unforgettable story of the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition

Thursday, Jan. 19th 6:00-8:00pm Marietta Campus, Student Center Student Affiars Suite
KSU’s Dr. Matthew Robison will screen and facilitate an open discussion on Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and how its message is still relevant today. Bring your own lunch.
