Testing Policy and Procedures

Please review these Testing Policies and Procedures before you arrive for your first exam. If you have any questions or concerns, ask the testing staff before you begin your exam, or contact any of the 3 testing locations.

  • Students must have an appointment to take their exam. Students register for an appointment through OwlAccommodate at least 5 Business Days in advance. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the instructor of appointment date, time and testing location.

Students should arrive at least 5 minutes before appointment for check-in and exam instructions. Student will be escorted to their assigned seat by the proctor. If a student arrives within 15 minutes of their appointment, they may still take it; however the appointment end time will remain the same. Students will not be able to make up the lost time due to late arrival. Failure to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment may result in rescheduling.

  • Students are required to show proof of identity at appointment check-in. Students must provide a valid government photo ID such as a Driver’s License, Driver’s Permit, State ID, Passport, Military ID or their KSU Student ID.
  • Students are not allowed to bring personal belongings such as backpacks, purses, cell phones and electronic devices into the testing room. Only approved testing materials are allowed in the testing room. All personal belongings will be stored in a designated area within the SDS Office. The SDS Testing Offices do not have secured lockers for storage and are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Students are responsible for bringing all required testing materials which are approved by the instructor and/or approved accommodations stated on their Faculty Notification Letter. These items include Scantrons, Blue Books, dictionaries, calculators, pens, pencils; etc. SDS does not provide Scantron answer sheets or Blue Books. Students should consult with their instructor on providing these materials to our office with the exam submission.
  • Students are encouraged to take care of their personal needs before entering the testing area. Students who are approved for restroom breaks will need to discuss plan of action with the Testing Staff before having access to the exam. Extra time is not allotted for these breaks unless warranted by the student’s approved accommodations.
  • Students are allowed to have drinks with a lid, gum, mints and quiet snacks. We ask that food packages be opened before entering the testing room so not to disturb others.
  • Students need to inform the Testing Staff of any personal or medical needs that may arise during testing prior to the beginning of the test. Should a student experience any difficulty or other concerns during the test, they will need to inform the Testing Staff immediately.

  • As a member of the National College Testing Association, we adhere to their professional guidelines for proctoring exams. SDS Testing Offices are equipped with video surveillance to monitor students while taking their exams to maintain an environment of academic integrity.
  • SDS adheres to KSU’s Student Codes of Conduct as stated in the University Catalog. Consistent proctoring and monitoring of exams are enforced. If a student is caught cheating or is suspected of cheating, an Incident Report will be submitted to the instructor.

    Examples of Examinee misconduct:

    • Giving or receiving unauthorized assistance of any kind
