The Georgia Review receives 10 citations at the 2012 GAMMA Awards ceremony
The Georgia Review, the University of Georgia's internationally recognized quarterly journal of arts and letters, was cited from the podium 10 times at the 2012 Magazine Association of the Southeast's annual awards ceremony held last week in Atlanta. All awards were for issues published in 2011.

Bethany Moreton, a University of Georgia associate professor of history and women's studies, was one of 25 professors nationwide selected this year to join the speaker's bureau of the Organization of American Historians, the largest professional society dedicated to the teaching and study of American history.

Georgia Museum of Art at UGA receives national awards for publications
The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia recently received national awards for two of its publications: first prize for Facet, its quarterly newsletter, in the American Association of Museums Publications Design Competition, and first runner-up for its book "One Hundred American Paintings" from the Eric Hoffer Book Awards in the art category.

Terry alumnus honored for achievements in the insurance industry
Insurance executive Scott G. Sink was named the 2012 Risk Management Alumnus of the Year at the Insurance Society Banquet hosted by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business' Risk Management and Insurance program last month. Sink is the 20th recipient of the UGA RMI award, which was established in 1992.

UGA College of Education professor elected to NCAA Forum
University of Georgia College of Education professor Billy Hawkins, whose research during the past decade has focused on sport and race, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Forum for the Scholarly Study of Intercollegiate Athletics in Higher Education.

Linsey Haram, a doctoral student in the University of Georgia Odum School of Ecology, has received a three-year National Estuarine Research Reserve System graduate research fellowship, one of only nine awarded in 2012.

University of Georgia Honors ecology student Scott Saunders received an Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, one of only 115 awarded nationwide in 2012.

UGA College of Pharmacy graduates 121 students
The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy graduated 121 doctor of pharmacy students in ceremonies held May 5 in Athens. Of those students, 70 graduated with honors, including one first honor graduate. Other honors were five summa cum laude, 32 magna cum laude and 33 cum laude.

UGA oral history recording studio named for political historian
The oral history recording studio in the University of Georgia special collections libraries will bear the name of political historian Bob Short. The UGA Cabinet approved the naming on April 26.

Mu Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity receives national award of distinction
The University of Georgia Mu Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity was selected among approximately 5,500 member chapters nationwide to receive the 2012 Chapter Award of Distinction from the North American Interfraternity Conference. Mu is the first chapter of Sigma Nu and the first fraternity at UGA to secure the award.
