GSU Law School Spirit Day!

On Thursday, November 8th, 2012 the SBA is hosting it's fall School Spirit Day! Please rock your favorite GSU Law apparel or drink-ware or any Georgia State blue you have in the closet! We will also be selling merchandise down in the lobby. School Spirit Day will end with an evening mixer at Dark Horse Tavern at 8:30 p.m. with John Marshall Law and Emory Law! Come out and support your law school this Thursday!

Perspectives on the New Egyptian Government

The J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Muslim Law Student Association, Federalist Society and International and Comparative Law Society present a diverse panel discussion on the post-Mubarak Egyptian government and its effects on Egypt's two major religious/ethnic groups: Muslims and Copts. The panel will feature perspectives from John Khalil, a Coptic Christian, and professor Mohammad Fadel, a Muslim law professor from the University of Toronto. The discussion will be moderated by Abbas Barzegar, GSU professor of religious studies.

Khalil is a graduate of Harvard Law and an expert on Coptic Egyptian Law. He co-wrote "A Brief History of Coptic Personal Status Law" with GSU Law professor and historian Ryan Rowberry. The article was published in Berkeley Journal of Middle Eastern & Islamic Law and can be found here.

Professor Fadel wrote his PhD dissertation on legal process in medieval Islamic law while at the University of Chicago. Fadel received his JD from the University of Virginia and was admitted to the Bar of New York in 2000. He has published numerous articles in Islamic legal history and Islam and classic liberalism. "The New Normal": A Look at Issues Facing LGBT families

"Beth Littrell, a Staff Attorney with the Southern Regional Office of Lambda Legal will be give a presentation discussing parenting issues including the  use of sexual orientation as a factor in custody decisions, uncertainty in parentage in surrogacy arrangements and the use of reproductive technologies and a divide in the states regarding second parent adoptions.

Federalist Society Presents Ken Klukowski

The Federalist Society presents "Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right: Ending Racial Discrimination by Ceasing to Discriminate on Account of Race," an ethical and legal discussion over racial discrimination in America with national best-selling author and constitutional attorney Ken Klukowki.

Mr. Klukowski is a media contributor, on the faculty at Liberty University School of Law, and a fellow and senior legal analyst with the American Civil Rights Union. Klukowski is the legal columnist for Breitbart News, covering the Supreme Court and legal issues, and formerly held the same assignment for the Washington Examiner. He has also been published by Politico, the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal, among various other outlets.
