Course Description

This course focuses on preparation of patent applications and prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Topics include types of patent applications, inventor interviews, analysis of prior art, preparation of the patent specification, claim drafting, inventorship/ownership determination, amendment practice, and argument practice, with coverage of U.S. law and regulations governing patent prosecution practice. A technical background is helpful, but not required, to take this course. Recommended Prerequisites: Intellectual Property Law; Patent Law.
