The ISL Office serves as an Archway to the World and an Archway to UGA for both international and U.S. students attending the University. With a number of exciting cultural events, programs, and services students and community members alike can travel around the world without leaving Athens. In addition to programs that enhance international awareness, ISL also provides orientation sessions for new international students, offers non-resident tax assistance as well as individual counseling, and advises approximately thirty international and multinational student organizations. ISL is for everyone – please join us!

ISL organizes an international student orientation each semester for new and transfer international students matriculating to the University of Georgia. The information included in the ISL orientations is not covered by any other orientation program on campus. Highlights from ISL's orientation schedules include information concerning immigration issues, taxes for non-residents, cross-cultural adjustment, housing assistance, course registration procedures, Social Security Cards, UGA payroll, and campus tours.
International Student Orientation:
International Student Orientation this year will be from July 30 – August 3, 2012, with additional social/educational events on August 4th and August 5th. We are hosting a number of informative and important sessions during the week including information about Social Security Numbers, housing, and course registration information. We strongly recommend that all new and transfer international students attend this orientation program. Please note that there is a $15 registration fee for this program. Students may register for orientation during the International Student Life check-in process from 10 am until 4:30 pm on Monday, July 30, in 210 Memorial Hall on the UGA campus.

Click Here 2012 Saeeda Peermahomed Award Application
International Student Life and the Peermahomed Selection Committee at The University of Georgia are pleased to solicit nominations from the UGA community for the 2012 Saeeda Peermahomed Award.
The Saeeda Peermahomed Award is made possible by the Peermahomed Family and is given in memory of Saeeda Peermahomed. Saeeda was a University of Georgia student from India who was studying to obtain a Masters degree in Journalism when she was killed in a tragic automobile accident in North Georgia in 1979. This award is given in Saeeda’s memory to honor the goals of inter-cultural exchange for which she stood.
This annual award is given to an international student in recognition of outstanding scholarship, leadership and service in the field of international education. The recipient should be an undergraduate or graduate international student at the University of Georgia and should have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
Award applications are due to the International Student Life Office on Friday, April 6th, 2012 at 5 p.m. Questions can be sent to the ISL Office at ugaisl@uga.edu

International Student Life offers a weekly listserv that provides information about upcoming office events, programs and services. It is our primary form of communication between the office and the many international students on campus as well as UGA and community members who want to know about international events throughout the year. Additionally, the listserv also incorporates key departmental and University announcements as well as highlights international events on campus and in the surrounding area.
