Austin graduated with a B.S. in Earth and Space Science: Astrophysics and Planetary Geology in Spring of 2016. His graduate studies include a thesis using infrared and visible spectra to determine the mineralogy and the origins of an asteroid. He is pushing the astronomy and geology skills learned in his undergrad to determine the complex geochemistry of space rocks. His running title for this research is "Mineralogy and History of Main Belt Asteroids Using Infrared and Visible Spectra"
Kerstin comes to CSU from Oregon State University where she graduated in 2013. There, she received her degree in Aquatic Biology with an emphasis in Marine Science - she also studied Spanish there. Her thesis title is "A View from Above: Implementing High-Resolution Aerial Imagery to Map Water Quality throughout the Cape Coral Canal System in Lee County Florida". This involves Kerstin identifying the trends of poor water quality throughout the Cape Coral canal system by coupling station data with aerial photography in order to map and monitor the extent of the problem.
