The Department of Art offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum in Studio Arts, Art History, and Art Education.

A graduate curriculum is also offered in Art Education.

Visiting artists, scholars, and Department of Art faculty add value and depth to the curriculum through Selected Topics courses in Studio Art, Digital Arts and Design, and Art History. Some of these courses may be offered only once. New courses are continually being developed.

Study Art Abroad

In keeping with CSU's emphasis on international study, the Department of Art offers courses and travel scholarships each year for students wishing to enrich their education with an international experience. Department of Art faculty members regularly offer summer experiences in Japan and Italy, and periodically offer courses in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. All courses are offered through the Center for International Education. Our department consistently ranks as one of CSU's highest in student participation in study-abroad programs.

Italy

The Italy program offers students the opportunity to study art and art history in one of the most beloved and vibrant arts centers of the world, Florence. Students also travel to Venice for the Venice Biennale, one of the largest international art exhibitions. The biennale offers world class art set in the unforgettable “floating city.”

Japan

The Japan program offers students an opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and art. Students travel to Kyoto, the country's center of art and culture, as well as Tokyo, Japan's vibrant center of commerce. In Kiryu, students connect with our close friends in Columbus' sister city. Courses offered have included textiles, ceramics, and printmaking.
