BS in Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering focuses on the application of the principles of electricity and its use with electrical devices and systems. In this energy conscious world, a thorough understanding of energy and its uses is essential to the success of an electrical engineer.

Graduates have the qualifications to enter careers in areas such as, but not limited to, telecommunications, computer engineering, manufacturing, aerospace industry, power generation and distribution, alternative energy, robotics, and automation.

  • Program educational objectives are broad statements that describe career and professional accomplishments that the program prepares graduates to achieve during the first few years following graduation. Graduates of electrical engineering will:

    1. Demonstrate career advancement with increasing responsibility in the electrical engineering industry as owners, managers, lead engineers, or other key positions of leadership.
    2. Meet the educational requirements to pursue registration as a professional engineer in the State of Georgia and all other states in the nation.
    3. Be capable of pursuing graduate education in electrical engineering, computer engineering and related fields.
  • Student outcomes describe the knowledge and skills acquired by students who complete the program. Students completing the electrical engineering program will be able to:

    1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
    2. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
    3. Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
    4. Function on multidisciplinary teams.
    5. Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
    6. Demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
    7. Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively.
    8. Have the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
    9. Demonstrate a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
    10. Demonstrate a knowledge of contemporary issues
    11. Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
