Since President Michael F. Adams (seated next to his wife, Mary) took office in 1997, the university has risen in academic achievement, faculty strength, student quality, enrollment, fundraising and facilities.

End of an era

UGA President Michael F. Adams will step down as president at the conclusion of the next fiscal year. At the end of his 16 years in office on June 30, 2013, Adams will stand fifth in length of service among the university’s 21 presidents, tied with founding president Abraham Baldwin.

Class of 2012 urged to ‘improve the world’
