You will choose the general direction of your business education based on your professional goals and personal strengths. Our team of academic advisors will help you navigate the requirements of your major, Coles College of Business, and KSU.
We are implementing an automated system to allow students who are generally approved to register for specific courses without a prerequisite override, even before they are formally accepted into Coles! Click here for more information.

Seek Advice Early
As you earn your BBA from the Coles College of Business, you may face complex academic requirements, new professional expectations, and weighty career decisions.
Even though you’re pretty good at reading the catalog, planning your courses, and charting your own course, talk with our professional advisors, as well as the faculty advisors in your major, before you:
- Choose a career direction
- Declare or change your major in Owl Express
- Apply to the Coles Undergraduate Professional Program
- Choose a minor
- Choose a certificate
- Select a Study Abroad experience
- Special Override Request
At Least by Your Sophomore Year
Even if you have no questions, we recommend that you draft a plan for all your remaining business coursework during the first term of your sophomore year and make an appointment to review that plan with an advisor. If you are a transfer student who will be a junior or senior, you should prepare a similar plan and review it with an advisor during your first term at KSU. Make sure you schedule this review several weeks prior to registration for the next term, before the lines get long.
On Track to Graduate?
Seek advice often. You will also want to check with our advisors regularly to make sure you’re on track to graduate as expected. In addition to talking with our professional advisors, our office has check sheets available to help you keep track of your requirements. Just stop by Burruss Building 431 or locate your check sheets online by visiting your Major page.
It Takes a Team
You’ve got a Coles College team on your side as you plan and complete your studies. Within our office, any advisor can speak with any student; we don’t assign or limit you to a single advisor. Within your Major, selected faculty members hold the responsibility to provide formal advice on academic requirements and career issues, yet all our professors are here to help you succeed.
