Donations

  • The CARE Services DOES NOT routinely accept clothing and shoe donations. However, the CARE Services has relationships with community consignment shops.  When students are in need of clothing and/or shoes, these shops fulfill those needs of students referred by the CARE Services. The CARE Services's current partner is Ecologie LLC.

  • The CARE Services provides linens and personal care items to our students. Currently the CARE Services is in need of the following items:

In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Campus Pantry, the KSU CARE Services has published a cookbook based upon the items provided through the Campus Pantry.

The pantry was started in 2006 when a student fainted in a classroom and efforts were made among university faculty and staff to address the issue. After speaking with the student it was discovered she had not eaten for several days, due to financial and situational constraints. As a result, the KSU Student Health Services and the Staff Senate began a campus pantry, entitled Feed the Future. In September 2014, Feed the Future was moved under the direction of the CARE Services. The fusion of these services helped to move the CARE Services to becoming the single point of access to services and resources, both on and off campus, for KSU students with issues surrounding homelessness, food insecurity, and foster care.

This cookbook has two purposes - First for our students! CARE will share this book with any student in need of learning how or what to cook when they receive a bag from the pantry. Second as a fundraiser. All proceeds from this book will be used to support the CARE Services's outreach efforts to bring about awareness as well as engage students in need that we hope to serve.

  • The CARE Services is always happy for businesses, department and/or organizations to host a Donation Drive on our behalf. If you are interested in hosting a donation drive, please call 470-578-6600 or email the CARE Services Director, Marcy Stidum, at mstidum@kennesaw.edu for more information on the Center’s current needs and guidelines for hosting a drive.

  • With the holiday season approaching, we have a few needs to help our students get thru the break.  Many of the resources available to students will close once they finish classes on December 9th and will not be available again until January 9th (such as campus eateries and our BOB shuttle system).  Also, many of our CARE students are student workers with campus jobs and due to federal regulations are unable to work for the 3 weeks they are out of class.  We strive to make sure all of our students have what they need for this stressful time.

    • Choice Hotel Gift Cards - We have a working relationship with Suburban Lodge here in Kennesaw.  We have housed many students there on a temporary basis.  We try to make sure all of our homeless CARE students are housed during the holiday break.  Choice hotel gift cards help to make that happen!
    • Gas gift cards - When campus is closed so is the BOB transportation shuttle buses.  Many students who work near campus rely on BOB for transportation to and from work.  Gas gift cards are a great help to get them back and forth to work.
    • Restaurant/Grocery store gift cards - Again, with campus closed, so are the campus eateries.  Gift cards to grocery stores and local restaurants are always appreciated.
    • VISA gift cards, clothing store gift cards and KSU Bookstore gift cards - Each year we work with VSLS and create a Holiday Wishes Angel tree.  We hope to be able to give each of our students some extra "fun" money so that they too can enjoy the holiday.

We also partner with KSU Volunteerism & Service Learning Support to host a Holiday Adoption Drive. During this drive our student’s wishes for the holidays are provided to the campus and surrounding communities for adoptions. The adoptions are anonymous. Please contact Flora Rockett (floweroc@kennesaw.edu) with VSLS for a list of the Holiday wishes still available.
